ROCKFORD, Ill. — Admitting that things have been “super hectic,” local blogger Matthew Campbell recently apologized for the months-long lapse between posts.
“I know it’s been a while since my last post,” Campbell began. “So I’d just like to start out by saying that I am truly sorry to all of my loyal readers who I’ve absolutely and inarguably let down over the last few months.”
Campbell, 37, creator of “What My Cat Dragged In,” has been blogging since 2010 and prior to this gap had been consistent with making weekly posts featuring photographs of animals killed by his cat Benito Meowssolini.
Citing an uptick in his workload as assistant shift leader at Jewel-Osco, Campbell continued the explanation of his lessened online presence as of late.
“I don’t want to make excuses but my supervisor Chad has been totally riding my ass making me work late, come in early, and work doubles even though he knows I’ve got you guys anxiously waiting for me to share Benito’s latest work.”
Sources close to the scene report that the situation had gotten so bad that Matthew’s mother, Gloria Campbell, became concerned about her son’s well being.
“Like any good mother I started to get worried after a week went by without any updates,” Gloria said. “Sure, I don’t totally understand the appeal of photographing dead animals but what do I know? Matty could really be onto something big here.”
Vowing to get back on track, Campbell assured all 11 of his subscribers, including the two people that are not related to him, that he would do his best to return to posting with some semblance of regularity.
“It is the least I can do for those of you who have supported me,” Campbell added. “Besides, with springtime right around the corner the newborn bunnies will be out in droves so I’m predicting I’ll have my work cut out for me.”
