CHICAGO, IL – Only 18 months into her first “real” job, local woman Ashley Ward has already set her career back 5 years after wearing an eye patch to work this week.

The 29 year old Chicago resident, who’s describes herself as “free spirit”, injured herself over the weekend while running with a bag of tacos at 3 a.m. early Sunday morning. Ward was not immediately taken to the hospital, but around 11 a.m. Sunday she reluctantly agreed to go get medical attention.

“She just kept saying she was fine, and that the tacos would make her stronger,” said Ward’s roommate Natasha Fine. “She was bleeding out of her eye and her face was black and blue. She must have fell during her taco run,” Ward’s roommate continued.

Ward is expected to heal from her injuries within a week, but the memory of the young professional wearing an eye patch to work is not expected to be forgotten by any of her co-workers for years.

“I know she is young and likes to have fun, but it’s hard to forget what someone looks like with an eye patch,” said a co-worker of Ward.  “I think she’s going to have a tough time bouncing back from this.”
